I started Judo in 1998 at Michigan State University under tutelage Jay Kim, Tom Sheehan, and Don Flagg. With there guidance and coaching, I was able to compete at a state, national, and international level. My time in judo was not all tournaments and training. I spent a lot of time teaching judo class at MSU, and at local gyms. In 2008 I moved to Tennessee and began teaching judo to adults, kids and helped foster the growth of judo in TN. In 2007 I seriously committed myself to Brazilian jiu-jitsu, I now enjoy practicing both arts. After moving toTN I was able to help instruct several Brazilian jiu-jitsu programs. I feel like I can bring a unique perspective to Brazilian jiu-jitsu because of my judo background.
