3-5 yrs old
This class focuses on getting the kids to fall in love with Jiujitsu in their earliest steps on the mat.
Building awareness, to include balance, coordination & agility. Becoming part of the Gracie Allegiance Team, they will learn the rules, behavior and discipline necessary to build strong roots and grow in the programs to come.
6-9 yrs old
This class is designed to be a fun way to introduce the concept of self-defense, anti-bullying and competitive martial arts, including judo and wrestling, to our community’s youth through jiu jitsu techniques and lifestyle.
10-14 yrs old
This class is where we see our older youth soar, built on a mature structure Installing strong values. We prepare them for the adults class in the following years while maintaining a focus on self defense and sport Jiu Jitsu with the main focus still being having fun!
Training in Jiu Jitsu takes many people out of their comfort zones because it is based solely on avoiding kicking and punching and little violence. Jiu Jitsu uses a variety of joint locks, chokes, holds and throws instead of the basic punches and kicks. Many children have to focus for extended periods of time since they are training against a resisting partner instead of a paddle or bag. This helps with a child’s thinking process, problem solving skills, coordination, and physical awareness. In Jiu Jitsu you need to have a training partner to practice with, so you spend a lot of time with that person. You can’t learn Jiu Jitsu by yourself and cannot learn the martial art by using paddles or punching bags. You need someone to grapple with and create a bond of trust and reciprocation. You and your partner will motivate and push each other so you know if the new joint lock or throw you learned actually works on an opponent.
